New Cycle Mud Track for local children

Why?

Children from the village have nowhere to ride their mountain bikes on interesting terrain, so they
have created humps and banks along School Lane.

  • This causes obvious danger with cars etc., is unsightly and makes the road muddy.
  • There have been several complaints made to the Parish Council and directly to the children.
  • The matter has been raised with the Parish Council to see what could be done and a small group was
formed to come up with ideas.

Where?

An area of land with a soil mound just behind the hedge at the bottom of Jubilee Field.

  • This is owned by the Parish Council and is currently unused
  • This is about 45 x 12 metres and the mound is soil excavated from works undertaken on the site

What?

The conversion to a mud cycle track is fairly easy, with a small amount of soil movement simple mud tracks
with humps and dips can be formed around and over the mound.

  • Access would be through a gate from Jubilee Field with safety signs at the entrance.
  • Safety and Security fencing will be provided, see plan.
  • The sketch below is our initial idea, but this will be developed to provide a safe and interesting place for
the children to ride their mountain bikes

How?

To keep costs down we will be looking to use volunteers to clear vegetation, and erect and alter fencing
and the entrance gate.

We are going to ask the Parish Council for money for materials and hiring a digger but will look to
supplement this with a bench and an area for the children to park their mountain bikes.
